Act 1; Scene 28: Easter Musics and Tulips

This year, we decided to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ by heading down to temple square for "Music and the Spoken Word" with the tabernacle choir.

The choir sounds absolutely gorgeous in its true home. The acoustics in the tabernacle were made for a large choir. I love how their sound wafts and fills the room, and carries you with it. The music and messages were perfect for the occasion. My favorite is always the final number after the broadcast is over--the choir's gift to the audience for coming: a-capella "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." My eyes were brimming with tears at the end of the song, even though I have heard it many times before.

After the broadcast, Salt Lake City got its own little Easter miracle. Just as Christ broke the bands of death, the sun broke the bands of dark and rainy clouds just long enough for us to enjoy the beautiful flowers and greenery of temple square in the springtime. :-) Robert has a knack for taking pictures, and went to work on the tulips and daffodils (my favorite!) Happy Easter, everyone!

Act 1; Scene 27: The Crazies Leave the HFAC

What a ride it has been.
I will miss my crazy theater ed friends.

And I will miss our beloved HFAC. Countless hours have been spent there by all of us. Countless tears and joys and fears and dreams have been shared there. This was our last day there together.

Did I mention that we've had lots of laughs together, too?
Mostly from being goofy and having fun. Oh, and having a "who can lick their tassel?" contest.

So farewell, Harris Fine Arts Center! We wish you well. The crazies are headed out!

Act 1; Scene 26: Let the Celebrations Continue

Today was the very last day of my student teaching experience. Justine and I said good-bye to the kids, gave Mr. Bauer a heart-felt thank you (with gifts), and then headed over to the Marriott Center to attend commencement. Here we are: the two peas in a pod on our last day as teaching partners.

It was pretty amazing to see all the people dressed in their blue gowns and caps with tassels. Very surreal. I looked around and thought, "Is this really happening?"

I looked out at campus from the top of the bridge to the Marriott Center, and I felt sad. I really do love this place--I feel like I have "grown up" here. Good thing I still have a few weeks left! Tomorrow morning I get to walk across the stage and get my diploma. I can't wait to be back in my home away from home, the HFAC! More up-dates on the graduation celebrations tomorrow. :-)

Act 1; Scene 25: A Sweet Accomplishment

BREAKING NEWS

Tonight, our ward had a closing social. They had a sign up for bringing food. In church, Robert signed up to bring a salad, I signed up to bring a side, and I also signed up to enter the dessert contest.

Hey, if you're gonna participate, you might as well go all the way, right?

Don't worry; we ended up bringing only a side (baked beans) and a dessert (pumpkin crunch). The prize for the dessert contest was a gift certificate to Cold Stone Creamery. And guess what?

WE WON THE DESSERT CONTEST!!!!!!!!!

What? Really? Something that I, Carson, made (with the help of Robert, of course) won a deliciousness contest?!

There is hope for me, after all :-)

Thank you Pumpkin Crunch

Act 1; Scene 23: The Beginning of the End is Here

I am almost graduated from college.
Almost.
Due to a lack of foresight on my side and some very confusing requirements on the side of the school, I am deficient one 1 ONE course credit from graduation. So, I will take my letters credit and officially graduate in June. However, all of the graduation celebrations are happening now, including me getting to walk next week with all of my friends graduating in April.
I am actually rather excited about this "extended graduation" of mine, because it means I get to celebrate for that much longer!
And last night marked the beginning of the celebrations: the annual Theater and Media Arts award ceremony/celebration.
First things first--I have to show you the outfit for the night. Dressing up for celebrations is one of the most exciting parts. It is such a treat to go shopping with Katie. She helped me pick out this dress-shirt that I was thinking might be too bold. But I love it!

I even tried the fancy heels with jeans look--fantastic. Here's a better look at the shoes:

The party was so much fun. Just great to be back with my school buddies!
My friend Christian was the MC:
Two of my favorite professors--Rodger Sorensen and Amy Jensen--announcing awards.

So nice of Robert to come with me!

My co-student teacher Mrs. Banks, blowing up a balloon to write one of the projects she worked on. There were balloons everywhere!

Theater Ed buddies

We even had an "old couple" come to the ceremony, trying to find a play :-)

Directing winner, and Theater Education winners with Rodger

Student teaching....this is what happens to you...

Stage Door winning actors!

With every good celebration comes food!
And great news about the whole night...I won an award! I was so excited. I was awarded an Award for Service to Theater Education--two of us graduating seniors from Theater Education received it. Best part of the award? The $500 that came with it. That makes up for not being able to work hardly any hours this semester!

Thanks, Theater Education!!! Let the celebrations continue.

The gorgeous stage

The maid is very smart and witty. She tries to convince Marian to NOT marry Tartuffe.

Damsel in distress :-)

"But here's Valere, your lover"

Tartuffe really likes Elmire, lady of the house

Tartuffe trying to seduce Elmire (it's actually a trick!); Orgon and servants looking on.

"Hello! You couldn't come out sooner and save me from Tartuffe?!??!"

"Oh son, I am mad at you!"

Neoclassical gentlemen

Running through the house in despair!

Ah! One of the servants fainted!

The eviction notice has come
